Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy (Universal) App Reviews

Underwhelming

Although there are some nice artistic elements to the game the movement through it and interaction within are cumbersome and awkward with little sense of fluidity. Green arrows and circles tell you exactly what to interact with removing all the fun of actually exploring and discovering this virtual world.

2000s game ported to iOS

As a teenager, I loved Siberia and decided to buy this game because its by the same author. Unfortunately, the graphics remained on the level of 2000s, and what used to impress a decade ago now seems just awkward and low definition stretched to a larger screen.. The storyline is very linear. I wish I could get my money back.

Old style point and click

Goes back to the times of Myst like point and click games. Somewhat old school, but still OK. I enjoyed the story and many of the ideas.

Good Adventure...with a Bug?

Puzzles are not very hard, it is more like an interactive movie. Voices are good. It can be sometimes a bit confusing to navigate. Graphics is ok, a bit outdated, but this is port of an older PC game after all. Atmosphere is captured well. There seems to be a bug in the first part: when you get the first disc, DO NOT insert it in the hydrafloat before youve put the egg in it! Otherwise, the disc disappears from the inventory and you cannot continue the game.

No french version included!

This is a French game but no one thought it useful to include the French voices and texts in this iPad adaptation! And there arent even English subtitles so here I am struggling to understand the instructions -- and its impossible to play silently too. Stupid.

Missing features

How do you resume the game if you are in the New/Continue/Load/Options game menu? Continue and Load dont seem to work in iOS 8.3. Edit: I understand this is a bug which became apparent in iOS 8. If you chose not to fix it, why is there no warning in the description? And why is this title still available for sale to iOS 8 users? Please fix this bug.

Dated

I love other Sokals games. This one doesnt even come close to them. Not recommended.

Doesnt save

I would expect to taste a classic adventure as this one bit by bit, going on slowly every day...this app needs to finish the game all at once...please, fix the bug, this makes the app useless, I cant play all the game without stopping...nobody can...

Cant save! Dont buy

Incredible bug, you cant save the game. No words at all, dont buy this game IPad Air 128 ios 8.1

Freezes and Quits 15 minutes into the game

It seemed like a good game the first 15 minutes. But when tapping on the action icon next to a record player and man laying his head on the table, the game freezes and then suddenly ends sending me back to the home screen on my iPod touch. I went back to this point about five times but same thing every time. There is no way to continue the game with out getting past this point. I tried contacting the company but its been weeks and no response. Ive been hoping for an update but nothing yet. Oh well, it was only $4. Ill update my review if theres an update that fixes the problem.

Thanks for the update! Quality is better now but still needs improvement.

Wonderful game

Im glad they updated this game and fixed some of the bugs. As for my review: This is the first of Benoit Sokals games (Syberia series creator), and its beautifully vivid and rich in imagery. I holds up well to the test of time. Really puts you in a strangely wonderful world, full of wonder...Amerzone is a magical place. The imagination and imagery of this game cannot be beat ...its not a flash in the pan, and doesnt try to extend itself with endless dialogue or superficial puzzles. You find intuitive tasks as you go along, and have plenty of freedom to wander its world and explore. Its a short game (a couple of hours or so ) because there are no endless dialogues, and the journey is fairly solitary in how straightforward it is. But its not pretentious. Its a true old school point n click adventure game, with some breathtaking locations. An old favorite. Intuitive puzzles, nothing too hard. Anyone expecting a shooting game, or something full of endless puzzles should avoid this. Pour yourself some tea or a glass of wine and enjoy exploring the locale as well as this really sweet story.

Awesome!

I had the original game for PC when I was really small, and got stuck and quit for several years. I tried finishing it several times after and my game never wanted to run past the lighthouse so I was doomed never to complete the game. This iPhone crossover brought the game back in full detail to a platform that wasnt buggy and prone to crashing. Thank you guys for all the hard work, its a really cool game and concept, Im just glad I still had the urge to complete it and stumbled upon this app while searching for an updated version that works with current equipment. I just with it were longer!

Very good game! Enjoyed the story and visuals! Well done! Would like to see more of this caliber. No issues playing on the iPad Air

1 star is being generous...

Wont save the game... "continue game" and "load game" dont work. Pretty worthless... Save your money!!! (Im running IOS 8.0.2).

Broken in iOS 8.0.2

Cannot continue a game. Makes it pretty much worthless. Please fix...

Not ios 8 compatible

The game does not "save" or allow to "continue game" on any version of iOS 8. One has to start over ever time one comes back to the game. In Ios7 the game does not have this problem. The game needs to be updated. Otherwise it looks like it is a very close experience to myst and raven !! Once it works on ios 8 ill give it 4+ stars

Save issue

You cannot save the game in ios 8 and until it is patched, this game is bordering on unplayable.

Cant save the game

Would be a decent game but once you exit to the menus you cannot save or continue...basically means you wont play the game through

Cant Save Game

This would be a decent game, but you cant save your progress. You have to restart the entire game every time you come back to it.
